Mother's Day Mini Album

Happy Mother's Day everyone, I hope you'll all have a wonderful day. I've been absolutely spoilt rotten today. I got a 85mm f/1.2 lens, yippee, a battery grip and 27 Dresses on DVD. Right now we're going out for dinner to Colombo's.

Here's what I made for my mum and this time it only took a week to get to her:

The Mother's Day poem in the album is the oldest Dutch Mother's Day poem in the archives, written in 1913.

Supplies: chipboard album - Basic Grey, PPs Bsic Grey, flowers - Prima Marketing, paper frill - Doodlebug, rubber stamp - Catslife Press, heart punch - EK Success, 3D puffy paint - Tulip, clear stamps - Basic Grey & Autumn Leaves, ribbons - Making Memories, chipboard accents - Cherry Art, journaling circles - Creative Café, letter stickers - Basic Grey, bling - KaiserCraft and Doodlebug.

And being given a new lens today, I of course had to try it out. Rebecca was willing enough to be my model. This is my picture for today:

Renee and Ruben also posed for a little bit towards the end, so here's the best ones of them:

Laugh

As I already mentioned I have been creating last week, but just didn't come round taking a picture of it yet.

Supplies: Cardstock - Bazzill, PPs - CK, chipboard - Fancy Pants & Making Memories, grungeboard - Tim Holtz, paint - Making Memories, floss - DMC, buttons - Making Memoreis, hardware - 7Gypsies, foam hearts - American Crafts, journaling circle - Etsy.com, clear clock - Heidi Swapp, ribbon - Stampin' Up, brad - Making Memories, semi circle journaling paper - Making Memories.

Today I took pictures of my roses that I bought earlier this week. It's always a surprise whether they will bloom or not. This time they did, and they are gorgeous.

Silver

I did create a LO yesterday, that had been on my desk for the past week, but haven't come round to take a picture of it yet. Today, I polished my silver cutlery and once saw in a magazine the idea to make your own art work to hang in you kitchen. Unfortunately I can't remember what magazine it was and whether I still have the article, but I had a go a photographing my own.

I Love You, Mummy

Yesterday during the Mother's Day celebration, the children had all made mugs for their mums and while we were there they were handing them to us saying: 'I love you, mummy'. I asked Renee to hold out the mug in front of her so that I could post a picture today. Isn't it gorgeous. She drew me, herself and wrote Renee and Mum.

Having a Ball

This afternoon Renee was playing on the trampoline with a bag of plastic balls, when I came out to take some pictures she decided to throw the balls at me. She had a giggle when she hit target (and I managed to capture it!).

Have a great Wednesday and thank you for your lovely comments.

Mother's Day Card

I'll start with my picture of today. I baked a cake this afternoon as there is a Mother's Day celebration tomorrow morning at Renee's Kinder. I had a little play with the shutter speed, to make sure the whisk was still visible and not totally blurry.

Also, I can already show you the Mother's Day card I made for my mum, as she received it in the post today. Quite amazing, considering I didn't post it until Friday afternoon. Her other gift on the other hand, which I sent last Wednesday, she hasn't received yet. Fingers crossed that I'll be there in time for Mother's Day.

Supplies: Cardstock - Bazzill, PPs - Basic Grey, ribbon - Stampin'Up, clear stamp - Basic Grey, Butterflies - Cavelline Papers, rubber stamps 'just for' - Stampin'Up, 'U' chipboard letter - Scenic Route, brown marker, button ?

Photo of Today

I'm working on some cards at the moment, but nothing I can show you right now. I've just got today's picture...

May 5th - New Skirt

Yesterday I went shopping with the kids and bought this skirt at Esprit. I really love the pattern and colours and of course had to wear it today. I took the picture standing in front of the mirror.

Are You Ready?

I almost left it too late again taking pictures, as daylight was fading rapidly this afternoon trying to snap the remaining 20 days of December. If you like to see the the first 10 days of this album, you can find them under the label '31 Days of December' on the right hand side. If you click on the pictures to enlarge them, you'll probably be able to read my journaling (if you're interested).

Are you still there?? Quite a number of the pictures were blurry, but I still decided to put them in as it conveys the emotion of the event.

Finally I'll leave you with my picture of the day, which I took this afternoon coming back from shopping with the kids. It's taken on Mont Albert Road, which is one of the most beautiful tree lined road in the suburb. Last year I missed my chance to take a picture of the Fall colours, so today I took the opportunity.

Christmas and Easter...

Christmas and Easter have long gone, but I've finally finished this. I kept on track with it right up until we left for Europe. I initially wanted to take it with me, but decided last minute that it wasn't worth it, as I couldn't print pictures anyway. I've kept it on my desk all this time, to keep reminding myself to finish it.

Last week I already printed the the pictures that I wanted to include, and today I did all the journaling and other finishing touches. I'm very pleased with it, but I wouldn't do it in this format again. I liked that the pages were 4x6, so that you didn't need to crop your pictures, but I thought the space for the journaling was too small and it was too messy for my liking. I guess I've got until December to think of a different format, because I'm planning to do something similar.

I've not been able to take pictures of it yet, due to lack of light, so check back tomorrow for lots of them.

For today I'll leave you with my picture of today:

Photo a Day in May

Jessica Sprague is doing a photo-a-day in May and everyone can join in. I read about it during my digi course and kind of forgot about it again. Reading her blog this morning I was reminded again and decided to join in. In general I take a picture everyday for my daily blog that I write for my family, so here's my pictures for today and yesterday:

We had a good downpour today, which we desperately need as the month of April was the driest on record.

Have a great weekend!
