Another Paper Crafts TOOT!

This morning I received some happy mail from Paper Crafts Magazine that they would like to publish another card that I submitted for their latest call. It's going to be a special publication called Card Creations: Favorite Occasions. This issue will go on sale on November 16th, 2010. I'm very stoked to have another card accepted.

Just like last time I submitted two cards, being it for one magazine this round. As only one of my cards got accepted I can show you the other one here.

Supplies: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Spring Moss), Bazzill Basics (white) | Clear Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Enjoy the Ride) | Rubber Stamps: Stampin'Up (Fifth Avenue Floral) | Ink: Stampin'Up (Chocolate Chip + Turquoise), Palette (Spring Moss),  Rhinestones: KaiserCraft | Pinking Scissors (Fiskars) | Ribbon | Button: Jilliebean Soup | Medium Scallop Die: Papertrey Ink

Right now we have a two week break from school, which is much needed. Renee's has an extended holiday, as she's been ill all this week with a very nasty cold. Let's hope she recovers fully soon. In case you're back on duty on Monday, I wish you a very wonderful and relaxing weekend. Otherwise enjoy your break!

Thinking of You, always...

I've been purchasing Papertrey Ink stamps for quite some time no, but don't always get to use them as often as I like. I frequently visit Nicole Heady's blog and look at all the various creations by the mega talented design team. Yesterday I decided it was time to get one of my favourite flower stamp sets out. One I hadn't used up until now.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics | Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye | Buttons | Clear Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Year of Flowers: Lilly of the Valley) | Ink: Staz'On (Jet Black), VersaMark | Embossing Powder | Ribbon: MemrieMare |

I had fun playing with this stamp set. Thank you for your visit.

The Shabby Tea Room: Week 15

This week The Shabby Tea Room was having a picture from Potterybarn as their inspiration. Potterybarn is one of my favourite stores in the US, and the colours immediately made me think of some old papers I've got from Scenic Route. Since that's half the job done, I decided to play along.

Supplies: Cardstock: Scenic Route | Patterned Paper: Scenic Route | Ribbon: Basic Grey | Border Punch: Martha Stewart (Modern Garland), EK Success (Bracket) | Flower Punch: EK Success | Lace: Spotlight | Clear Stamps: Waltzing Mouse (Say It With Style), Papertrey Ink (Butterfly Dreams) | Butterfly die: Papertrey Ink | Chipboard Frame: Tattered Angels | Pearls: KaiserCraft | Ink: Stampin'Up (Chocolate Chip) | Twine | Corner Rounder: Woodware Designs

I also wanted to point out that it's so nice to see a lot of unfamiliar faces to me on my blog and leaving a comment. You might have been visiting for a long time, but clearly I wasn't aware of that. Hope to see you all again soon.

Happy Father's Day

Today's it's Father's Day in most of the world, but not in Australia. That doesn't mean that I didn't have to get crafty, as it's still Father's Day for my dad. Of course I made him a card.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics | Patterned Paper: October Afternooon Weathervane | Button: Basic Grey | Alphabet Stickers: American Crafts Thickers | Label Die: Spellbinder Nestabilities | Ribbon: Vandoros | Border Punch: EK Success | Marker: ZIG Brown

Since I made a calendar for my mum for Mother's Day, I thought it would be nice to make a calendar for my dad too. It is on a smaller scale, as I used a display stand from Maya Road, but I still used the same calendar template, and simply shrunk it down. I also omitted the name of the month and year.

The display stand comes with 12 tabbed chipboard pages. I added the front myself from some left over chipboard.

Supplies: Display Stand: Maya Road | Cardstock: Bazzill Basics | Patterned Paper: October Afternoon 'Weathervane' | Border Punch: EK Success | Star Punch: Fiskars + Sizzix | Buttons: Basic Grey | Clear Stamps: Autumn Leaves | Software: Adobe Photoshop CS3 | Ink: Ranger's Distress Ink (Antique Linen) + Palette (Ripe Avocado + Aqua Mist) + Staz'On (Timber Brown)| Alphabet Stickers: American Crafts + October Afternoon 'Weathervane' | Marker: ZIG (Brown)

I always love how it works out perfectly for all the months, as each grandchild is on the month they celebrate their birthday and the leftover months equates to exactly the right amount for each to have two pictures and one of the siblings. I possibly could have done with one more for a picture of the five of them together as those occasions are quite rare being 10,000 Miles apart.

I wish all the dads a very happy Father's Day. Did any of you create a keepsake for this special occasion? Enjoy your Sunday.

Fly Away with Me

The stamp set that I used for the following card is actually called Up, Up & Away, but I quite liked the sound of my blog title and Birthday Wishes as the sentiment reads seemed so common. I'd already promised you this one yesterday, but I got a little too distracted by my latest hobby, playing the piano.

Anyway, this card is for my nephew who turned 17 yesterday.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics | Patterned Paper: American Crafts | Clear Stamps: Papertrey Ink 'Up, Up & Away' | Cloud Die: Papertrey Ink | Ink: Staz'On (Jet Black) + Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream)  | Ribbon | Machine Sewing | Felt: Papertrey Ink

I did not get chosen for the Shabby Tea Room Design Team. I guess I wasn't shabby enough, LOL!

Oh and my dad emailed me today that he's received his Father's Day gift. At least it was on time!

I wish everyone a marvellous weekend.

The Shabby Tea Room Design Team Call

Yesterday while reading my bloglines I discovered that The Shabby Tea Room is having a Design Team call. I quite like their challenges and considered it. Not taking in the dates that thoroughly I thought I had a few more days to create something if I decided to join in - only realising late this afternoon that today is the last day for the call. I decided to take the plunge and made a card using this as inspiration:

And here's my card (apologies for the bad light, but by the time I'd finished the card it was dark and artificial light isn't the best):

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics | Patterned Paper: Making Memories | Rhinestones: KaiserCraft + Prima Marketing | Clear Stamps: Papertrey Ink 'Heart Prints' + 'Fancy Flourishes' | Pinking Scissors | Ink: Staz'On (Jet Black) + Papertrey Ink (Pure Poppy) + Ranger's Distress Ink (Antique Linen) | Heart Die: Sizzix | Border Punch: Martha Stewart | Buckle: Deluxe Buckles

I'll be back tomorrow with another card. I spoke to my dad this afternoon, but he hasn't received his Father's Day gift yet. Wish me luck!

Two Birthday Cards

Last week my best friend here in Australia, Beth celebrated her birthday. I always like to make cards that complement the person receiving it. Beth's favourite colours are pink, red and grey - so I decided to incorporate all three of them.

This past Saturday a good friend's partner celebrated his birthday as well. I dug out some old Collage Press papers for this one.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics | Patterned Paper: Collage Press | Buttons| Clear Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Enjoy the Ride) | Ink: Staz'On (Timber Brown) + Ranger's Distress Ink (Antique Linen) | Twine: B*Inspired | Corner Rounder: Woodware Design | Crop-a-Dile | Border Punch: EK Success

I'll be back later this week with another card and depending on when my dad receives his package, his Father's Day gift. Thanks for dropping in.

Happy Birthday

Last week one of my Dutch friends, Liesbeth celebrated her birthday. I tried to push myself out of the box a little and try something different for her card, but it ended up being quite a painful process. Half way through I didn't really like it and had to improvise a bit. Not at all what I envisioned, but this is how it turned out:

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics | Patterned Paper: October Afternoon 'Thrift Shop' | Border Punch: EK Success | Buttons: Papertrey Ink | Flowers: Making Memories | Ribbon | Clear Stamp: Papertrey Ink 'Enjoy the Ride' + 'Dahlia' stamp set | Ink: Palette (Aqua Mist), Ranger's Distress Ink (Antique Linen) | Corner Rounder: Woodware Designs | Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug

That's all for now. Thank you for your visit.
