Submitted Cards + Happy Birthday + Giveaway Winner!

Neither of my two cards I submitted to Paper Crafts Magazine got chosen this time. One was a very last minute impromptu decision anyway, so I'm not too worried about it. This obviously means I can show them to you here now:

The second card is the anniversary card I made for David:

Today, Jessica, one of my dear Nike friends is celebrating her 40th birthday. Congratulations, Jess... I hope you have a fantastic day.

It was lovely to read all your comments on where you find inspiration and it's amazing to see how important the blog world is nowadays. I heavily depend on them to for inspiration and less and less on magazines. It's funny that we all still would like to be picked to be published though.

Finally all that remains to do is announce the winner of the Papertrey Limited 2010 Edition Stamp set. The winner is:

Congratulations Jolanda, please email me your address at lisettegibbons at hotmail dot com.

Happy Anniversary Too! + Giveaway

Today David and I are celebrating our anniversary. It was 13 years ago since we said 'I Do'. I would normally show you my anniversary card now, but I submitted it to Paper Crafts Magazine this morning. I won't find out until next week whether or not it is going to be picked for publication. In case it doesn't I'll post it at later date.

However, I do have some masterpieces to show you... On Saturday we, the children, David and I all created our anniversary cards. The children are always very excited to show us what they've made, as they try and do it as independently as possible (albeit with a little help). Are you ready?

This is David's creation (Rebecca told him less is more :D):

Here's Rebecca's card:

This is what Ruben made:

See the little Fenix sign on the card? That's where we'll be having dinner tonight. Afterwards we'll be going to see Knight and Day.

And finally Renee's card:

Since we are celebrating today,  I would like to give a little something to one of you...

It's the 3rd anniversary limited edition stamp set from Papertrey Ink. For some reason I received two sets, and I obviously only need one. This giveaway is open to everyone (including overseas readers). All you have to do is leave a comment on this blogpost telling me when you start a project, and you are looking for inspiration where would you go to find it. Is it someone's blog, a website, maybe a magazine? I'm intrigued to know. Sounds simple enough, don't you think?

update: deadline for the giveaway is end of day Friday, July 23rd .

Thank you for stopping by.

Happy Anniversary

It might be Winter in the Southern hemisphere, but it's Summer in the North. This means lots of anniversaries are being celebrated, as many of us do prefer to get married in the sunnier months of the year.

Tomorrow will be our own anniversary, but 10 years minus one day before we got married, David's brother Glen got married. Today Glen and Karen are celebrating their 23rd anniversary. Congratulations to both of you.

I fear that the card I sent might not have made it their in time, even though I did create it with enough time to spare. I just couldn't decide whether or not to keep it for myself. The card was inspired by this card and a card by Annabelle O'Malley, but this one is out for publication.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Patterned Paper: Making Memories + Jenni Bowlin | Clear Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Background Basics Hearts, Damask Designs, Recipe Box Label) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) + Staz'On (Timber Brown) | Pearls: KaiserCraft | Ribbon: Webster's (red) + Paperchase (white) | Doily | Felt: Spotlight | Dies: Papertrey Ink (Fillable Frames 5, Large Scalloped Die) | Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug (Swiss Dots) | Corner rounder: Woodware Designs

That's all for me today. I'll be back tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Gift Wrapping + A Couple of Cards

Today Rebecca had a birthday party of one of her classmates. She'd bought some bangles and earrings for her. Since they are quite small presents in size, it's not that easy to wrap them. Instead of just wrapping them, I thought it would be nice to make a box for them. Her friend's favourite colour is purple, so I made a purple box for her and added a few details to make it a bit more special. Here's a picture from the top.

And one from the side:

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper | Patterned Paper: Making Memories, Jillibean Soup | Ribbon | Flower Die: Papertrey Ink | Sentiment stamp: Papertrey Ink (Mega Mixed Messages) | Border Punch: Martha Stewart (Double Dots) | Tag: newsagent | Ink: Staz'On (Timber Brown) | Pearls: KaiserCraft

Last week I created a couple of other cards using some more Papertrey Ink stamps that I hadn't broken into yet and one of which the paper was still untouched.

Firstly a baby card for which I used the Baby Button Bits stamp set. I haven't been needing to make any baby cards, but I thought it was about time to play with the stamps. The patterned paper was also fresh off the shelf.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (kraft) | Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye (Lush) | Clear Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Baby Button Bits, Background Basics: Diamonds | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Antique Cream), Staz'On (Timber Brown) | Button | Ribbon: MarieMare, Making Memories | Ric-Rac Die: Papertrey Ink | Label Die: Spellbinder Nestabilities Labels 1 | Corner Rounder: Woodware Designs

Finally, I picked up some more My Mind's Paper as I simply loved the colours and the patterns. I'd totally intended to make a minimalist card, but it took a whole different direction.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Bazzill White) | Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye: Quite Contrary | Ribbon: B*Inspired | Clear Stamp: Papertrey Ink (Mega Giga Guide Lines, Fancy Flourishes) | Ink: Stampin'Up (Bashful Blue), Papertrey Ink ( Pure Poppy) | Buttons | Machine Sewing | Scallop Circle Punch: Marvy Uchida | Border Punch: Fiskars (Apron Lace) | Floss: DMC

That's all from me for now. I wish everyone a great weekend.
