Workshop 'At Home'

The last couple of days I've been working on an online workshop called 'At Home' by Revlie. It's using the chipboard house album from Love, Elsie! and her Jack & Abby papers. I'm almost finished with it, but I've run out of rub-on letters and some other little things that I still would like to add. I've ordered everything, but have not yet received it. Hopefully I'll receive the items in the next few days, so that I can show you everything.

Meeting Shirley

On Tuesday I met Shirley for the first time in person. We had agreed to get together for her to practice her photography on my three kids and for me to learn some new things (which I did). She came to our place first and then we walked to Beckett park and through Maranoa gardens. Back home I fed the kids some lunch and then we went to Maling Road for a little while. Hopefully my three will have given Shirley some good shots to build her portfolio. It was nice to meet a fellow scrapbooker and photographer, as I don't know many others than through the internet. I didn't take too many pictures that day, but particularly loved this one of Renee:



When Shirley went back home, I discovered shortly after that she had left one of her lenses. She told me it's okay to give it a go, as it's one that I haven't got (85mm f/1.8). Yesterday I took this picture of Renee (again, but she was the only one willing to pose):



I think I want one too now. Thank you Shirley for all the great tips and a great time together.

So Lucky

Last week I've created a long list of ideas for LO I wanted to create. Last night I did one and today I did one. Quite an achievement I must say, because normally I seem to forget my ideas very quickly. I suppose writing them down has made a huge difference. That way I can't forget them. This one is ode to our babysitter. For this LO I used Cocao Daisy's September Late Summer Afternoon kit. And while browsing the internet this morning I came across Pencil Lines Sketch #51 and I decided to use that one to create this LO.





The journaling reads: Moving to Australia meant no family support network. We have been so luck to have found B. She babysits the kids for us and I totally trust her. She is kind, caring and beautiful. She even agreed to model for me so I could practice my photography.

Walk to School

I've had this picture and the papers lying on the floor in my scrap space for the last four days, but haven't had time to actually stick it down. This evening was the first time I looked at my scrap things again and managed to create a LO. The materials I used are from the debut kit from The Scarlet Lime. It seems to be quite a popular kit, right from the word go, as the October kit has already sold out to pre-orders. I've signed up for 3 months, and I must say the first kit is quite yummie. I find kits both positive and negative at the same time, because it pushes you out of your comfort zone to use things that you personally would have never picked, which might just be the things that you really like. Or it could contain items that you really don't like. I'm also never quite sure whether I should only use things from the kit, or whether I should include things from my stash. I think I'm going to have a try at both. For this LO I only used things that were included in the kit.

First Photo Shoot

Yesterday I went on my first photo shoot adventure with our kids babysitter. I asked her to pose for me to see what I could make of it. Renee had to come along too, which wasn't easy to concentrate, but I've got about 7 good pictures. I'll show you my favourite one.

Treasure

I've been having a lot of inspiration lately, but haven't done as much scrapping as I wanted to. I seem to linger on browsing the internet looking for more inspiration, rather than putting things to practice. Today, however I managed to pull away from the computer and actually create. I still seem to be searching for 'my style', but I've noticed that my eye always falls on clean and simple, with a little shabby chic touch. Here's what I created this afternoon:

Sweet & Simple

Yesterday I wanted to create a little book that would take only a few hours to make. Something sweet and simple. I had it all right in my head, but it didn't start off as I wanted it to. So, I started over. The few hours became probably about 5, but in the end it didn't take too long to make. I personally think it's a really nice keepsake, as the kids start to ask me what I used to watch on telly when I was a child. When my dad visited in April they also asked him what he used to watch. Little did they know that most people didn't even have a TV in those days.

Your Domain

This afternoon I started on another LO. I'd already printed the picture last week, but I didn't have the inspiration to actually put it down on paper. I initially wanted to have the LO landscape, but ended up turning it 90 degrees. The papers I used were from the Seeds kit that I purchased from Scrummy Stash Café.

It's finished, but...

Nearly a month ago I showed you a sneak peek of a handbag kit I purchased at my LSS. Today I was determined to finish it (so I can start on something new), but there was a BIG OOPS! Have a look at the picture...



Did you notice that the chipboard book that is supposed to fit inside is the opposite shape of the handbag? Well, I discovered this quite early on and I thought no problem its just got to go in upside down. Dhuh... why didn't I see this sooner. Of course it doesn't fit upside down, because the opening on the top is too small for it to fit into. Maybe because the owner of the store said that the items went together? Well, it's finished now and I have managed to come up with a solution so that it still fits inside the bag. I've taken the handbag apart and put it back together leaving the bottom open. Not quite as it should be, but when it's inside nobody would know. I just need to find a good way to secure it, that the book won't fall out when you pick it up. Phew! On the inside cover (not pictured) it reads: 'I asked your Daddy to give me five words to give to you to take on your journey through life. Always remember to: enjoy, have passion, have self-belief, respect and love, xoxo'.

Party

Today I created a LO of Rebecca's party. This is in no sense an original, it was a total scraplift of one of the Garden Girls, Rhonda Bonifay on 2Ps. But I liked it so much, I stuck with her design and just chose different papers. I guess that's a big compliment to her.

Today Rebecca had her party. It was a great success! All the girls made a scrapbook page. As only one of the girls remembered to bring a photo, I made a picture of all of them individually which they scrapped.

Last Two

I managed to make two more cards, which means that I've got everyone's birthday or anniversary covered for September. I'll take a little break before I start on the October ones. Again I made these from my scraps. This time I used SEI and KI Memories papers.





Right now I need to get prepared for tomorrow, as Rebecca will be having a birthday scrapbooking party with 5 friends. Enjoy your weekend!

Today I also created four boy cards. I've still got a few more to make, as it seems that September is the busiest month with birthdays and anniversaries. Before I started I sorted out my left over papers and I created all these cards using only scraps from Scenic Route and Three Bugs in a Rug.
